Plumbing and Snow

Tom and I met up at the lake today to get some more of the plumbing work knocked out.  He fixed the washing machine drain while I worked on the pressure relief drain line for the water heater.  I originally ran it in PEX pipe, but the plumbing inspector made me replace it with CPVC instead.  So the only 2 things left before inspection now are the pipe hangers to support the pipe ever 4 feet and I need to trim the counter top in the bathroom so we have 15 inches of clearance between that and the center of the toilet.  We are about an inch short right now.

I snapped this picture on my way in to the cabin.  It's much more interesting than a pile full of pipes, so I figured I would use it for this post.  Things are warming up but there is still a ton of snow up there.

Snow and Ice

I went up to the cabin yesterday so I could figure out what parts I need to finish the plumbing work and took a couple interesting shots while I was there.  This first one shows where the sun has been melting the snow on the deck, but the shadow from the hand rail has prevented the snow from melting.
This one shows the iceciles that are forming under the deck.  The sun is melting the snow on the roof, the water falls and lands on the deck which is also in the sun.  Then drips through the gaps in the deck boards and freezes under the house in the shade.  The ice on the ground is several inches thick.
